Sustainable design, created to provide long-term enhancement of its surroundings, is a hallmark of Manasc Isaac Architects. Sustainable design offers an opportunity to create buildings and communities that are healthy for people in general and the planet as a whole. Healthy, sustainable workplaces, schools, and health facilities improve productivity and reduce operational costs while reducing environmental impact.
Manasc Isaac Architects is the first firm in Alberta to design sustainable integrated buildings, and we have over ten years experience doing so, facilitating charettes for each individual project. We design spaces and places that are memorable, delightful, and vibraint.
In 2004, we secured the first LEED-certified buildings in Alberta, the AUMA offices and the St. John Ambulance Headquarters located in Edmonton. As far back as 1998, Manasc Isaac Architects was among the first to tap into Canada's Commercial Building Incentive Program
(CBIP), which provides up to $60,000 for designs that outperform the Model National Energy Code for Buildings by at least 25 percent.
We use the LEED-Canada V 1.0 Green Building Rating System, but we do not "chase points". Our approach is based on setting environmental goals and assessing our performance using rating system tools. Recent projects where this has been successful include the new Government of Canada Building in Yellowknife, NT and the Water Centre in Calgary.
The following case studies describe some of our success matrixes.
