Photos courtesy of Jim Dow The Driftpile First Nation is structured on the banks of Lesser Slave Lake between the towns of Slave Lake and High Prairie, Alberta.

Designed in partnership with the people of Driftpile, the design team drew inspiration from the eagle feather. The feather is part of the mantle of this powerful bird, representing the spirit of wisdom and strength. Many eagles find their nesting place on the lands of the Driftpile First Nation.

This symbolic reference was also carried upward into a third dimension. The growing height of the school represents the development of the students intellectually, spiritually, and physically from the first day of kindergarten through to high school graduation.
