This new health facility evolved out of owing to the functionality, climatic conditions, and cultural history of the Peigan First Nations.

The plan form is based on the Medicine Wheel; the cardinal points of the compass open to a central circular form.

The four wings contain the various functions of the facility, and radiate from the central core in a pinwheel form. The central circle is taller than the wings, allowing the reception/waiting area to be higher. This reflects the importance of this orientation space. The ceiling is treated and shaped to reflect a sweat lodge healing form. The very center of this space is highlighted by the inclusion of a roof light that floods this space with daylight.

Treatment services are located in the southwest wing, with Community Health in the northwest. Counselling, Mental Health, Elders Room, and multi purpose rooms are located in the southeast area.

The building is oriented such that the main entrance faces East. All public facilities, including washrooms, the waiting room, and the play area are directly accessible from the main central space. Each wing terminates with an access door to the outside, where there are areas for the enjoyment of staff and visitors.
