Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) represent a standard of care required by laboratories producing pharmaceuticals for clinical trials and experimental purposes; and Raylo Chemicals was growing out of its lab facilities. This new 630 m addition includes five production labs, a calorimetry lab, a clean room, a meeting room, a lunchroom, and offices.
This facility was designed to GMP Standards, and construction was completed in less than 12 months through fast-track construction management.
Another project that Manasc Isaac Architects did for Raylo Chemicals was the renovation of a three-storey office building into laboratory and office space. Raylo Chemcials develops custom designed complex organic chemicals for the North American pharmaceutical industry. The program includes research and development labs, small scale chemical test production labs, quality control labs, and office space for site administration and senior executive staff.
A new lunchroom was added to provide staff with a meeting and communication space. The lab conversion is an important step in the consolidation of Raylo activities to the Cloverbar site.
Raylo has also expanded their current operation to include a $16 million fully-equipped four-storey pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Working with Process Facilities Inc. of Boston, MA, Manasc Isaac Architects acted as the client's architectural advisor for this fast-track project including reviewing of construction documents, code compliance, cold climate building envelope design, and site services.
