Background
The ability to creatively bridge from fundamental sustainable design principles in the early stages of concept design to the detailed design, coordination, and integration of high-performance building systems during contract documentation is a key quality of Derek's 25 years of design experience.
Derek's work has focused on complex, multi-use facilities that require sophisticated, interacting building technologies. His work includes research laboratories, pilot plants, and major urban health facilities. He has 10 years' experience designing high-performance, sustainable workplaces for private and public sector clients.
These projects have benefited from Derek's knowledge of the C-2000, CBIP and LEEDTM programs, and from his practical experience with the integrated design process. Derek's most recent project include the largest Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIP) installation in the country.
